Technical data

Manuscripts should not exceed 5 printed pages for both oral and poster presentation papers (including acknowledgements, references, figures and tables). Conventions

Standard abbreviations should be used (cm, m, Ma, t, °C, NW-SE, Pb, etc.) and units of measurement should comply with the international standards (SI units).

References

References to other articles cited in the text should be written: Köppel (1983), Bubier et al. (1993) (if more than two authors) or (Wilcox and Simonin, 1988; Wieder, 1989; van der Valk et al., 1991) (in chronological order). The references in the reference list should be in alphabetical order, then in chronological order where several references by the same author are given, and also chronologically with several co-authors. If references are made to different articles by the same author(s) for a given year, these should be distinguished by appending a, b, etc., to the year (e.g. 1990a). Quote journal names unabbreviated. References should only be cited as ‘in press’ if the paper has been accepted for publication, in which case the journal name and volume number must be provided. The following gives some examples of how the editors want references to appear. Indents will be set only in the final print.

Tables, figures and illustrations

All tables and figures should be submitted in black and white only; the congress proceedings will be published in black and white apart from the cover pages.

The electronic version of the manuscript as well as the tables should be saved as separate MS Word documents in .rtf or .doc format. Figures and illustrations should be of high quality and supplied as separate files in high resolution as .jpg or .tif (300 dpi for photographs, 600 dpi for other illustrations: ideally Illustrator eps for graphs and diagrams). The file names have to indicate the name of the author and the number of the figure/table (e.g. millertext.doc, millerfig1.jpg, millertab1.tif). Tables and figures must be comprehensible and independent of the text itself. In the text, tables and figures should be referred to as (Table 1) and (Fig. 1). Table and figure captions should be provided on a separate sheet following the manuscript text (i.e. at the end of the manuscript text) (use page break). Please indicate the place of the table or figure by one space line after the relevant paragraph followed by (insert Fig. 1) followed by another space line. Captions of tables and figures should be complete and understandable in their own right.

Procedure for submission of the manuscript

The electronic version of the manuscript (including tables, figures and illustrations) should be uploaded onto the following website no later than the deadline for submission: http://www.ipcireland2008.com. The review process will begin as soon as papers are submitted.

Instructions for poster presentations

The size of the poster boards will be 1.0 m (width) x 1.4 m (height). The Congress Organisers will provide pins in order to attach the poster.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF COMPLETE MANUSCRIPTS IS 1st MARCH 2008.

Please note that Manuscripts will be accepted only after payment of the registration fee of one of the authors or a delegated presenter for the paper.
